Bill Reid’s lifetime passion was trucks and this room contains all of his collection of 60 years. Sadly Bill passed away in 2019 and through the Kindness of his wife Mary the collection has found its way to the Heritage Centre to ensure that it can be enjoyed by the wider audience in Bill’s memory.
The Bill Reid Photo Albums are varied and contain up to 37 folders containing 10,000 photos.
The GH (General Haulage) range are comprehensive at 29 folders containing 25,000 photos.
The Scottish Hauliers are in alphabetical order over 5 books. A recent addition to this collection’s first page is an alphabetical index by haulier pointing the reader to the correct pages and number of pictures available. You may also notice an additional reference giving you details how to look at further photos in another album. Dave Hewet or Jim Smith will be able to help.
English and Welsh are also in alphabetical order over 7 albums containing 30,000 photos.
There is one album on Irish with 1,000 photos.
There are 5 Albums on vintage (many in black & white). Eddie Stobart, Malta, New Zealand, Recovery, plus many more.
There is a vast loose Photo Collection of approximately 100.000 photos.
There are at least 600 CD with approximately 60,000 photos.
The bookshelf contains many chapters on Buses, Trucks, Steam, Tractors, small Commercials and Trams.
